How we differ...
"I began skiing at 3 years old and my parents were the best coaches ever! I started Wakeboarding when it was invented. It was called Skurfing back then and we rode behind boats with almost zero wake, towers did not exist and we rode with ski ropes. We had no idea what we were doing. There weren't any coaches so we had to experiment and fail over and over again until we figured something out or invented something new. Why is this beneficial for you? Most schools around BC focus on the beginner side of wakeboarding, skiing and surfing but it stops there. This is great if you have never even been on a boat and have no idea if you'll even like the sport. We can recommend some great places around BC for this kind of introduction but at Trick Switch we have developed more of an "athlete development" mentality and various programs to suit anyone's needs. Our focus is on professional level coaching, from beginner to pro level riders! Have your own boat or access to a friend's, maybe? Never ridden or skied before? Seasoned pro who just wants some outside feedback or correction? Here's what we offer that you may not find anywhere else in BC.
- Structured lessons with professional one on one feedback at every point of your skiing or riding.
- Flexible riding time. This means you aren't always on the clock. We will always extend riding time to get into the finer details of your riding or skiing.
- Personal demonstrations from our coach. I f time allows and we feel it would be beneficial, your coach will be able to demonstrate various tricks and techniques to help you visualize what to do along with the instruction.
- Follow up contact to check on progress.
- Online or phone support via video referrals and instructional.
- Equipment advice to help you set up your ride to suit your style or to help you find the best equipment through one of our recommended retailers. If you can't find it, we'll help in any way possible.
- Boat driving instruction focused on safety and aiding you in giving you skier or rider the best possible chance to succeed. We'll even show you how to keep that water glassy all day long with some simple tricks and tips.
- Boat set up advice. Don't know what rope to use? Can't figure out where the best place to put weight or ballast? Don't know what that weird icon is on the touch screen of your brand new boat means? Have an old boat that wasn't designed for big wakes but you'd like to be able to Wakeboard or Surf behind it? We'll show you everything you need to know.
- Extras packages including a mobile boat detailing service, photography package of your lesson and a ski and board repair service.

ABOUT ME.
Sim Davis, owner and head coach.
I was born in Ballarat, Australia. Growing up as the child and grand child of avid water-skiers, I developed a love for the sport, which would end up shaping my future. My parents, Steven and Shayne Davis, were determined to see me up on skis at an early age. Something I cherish every day.
Learning to ski at just 3 years old led me into competing at the age of 7. Wakeboards, or skurfers as they were known back then, came around a few years later. Having next to zero instruction or reference, I struggled to grasp the concept of this new sport and chose to put the ski back on instead. One man, by the name of Mike Troon, saw my potential and desire to wakeboard and took me under his wing. He helped teach me my first invert at age 13.
From there, along with competing in BMX, I took wakeboarding a little further. Gaining the attention of companies like Double Up, Jobe, Hardline, Rip Curl and Ronix. Having a strong background in ski and board sales, various stores and distributors gave me the chance to travel Australia in search of becoming pro. I competed in my first Wakeboard tournament at the age of 17 and stopped competing to focus on coaching at 25.
I conducted my first paid Wakeboard lesson on Lake Mulwala in 2008 and have worked for 7 different schools around Australia and Canada. After moving to Canada in 2009, I became a coach in Osoyoos and helped develop programs and camps for all levels of riding. Having coached anyone from the age of 2 to 90, I am determined to further master my craft of waterski and wakeboard coaching.
Realizing that there was a gap in the market for high levels of coaching, I decided to start Trick Switch with the hope I could bring new skiers and riders into the industry. With wake surfing developing a strong presence within the community, I have been working hard to develop programs and techniques for this discipline as much as possible.
At 35, I still have plans to travel the World and pass on my knowledge to anyone wanting to join the watersports world.
